City of Morden urges water conservation for residents during winter.

The City of Morden is reminding residents to continue water conservation efforts as the city remains under Extreme Drought Conditions.

Water scarcity continues at Lake Minnewasta. The average water usage for the City has gone up compared to the water usage in the month of October by about 300,000 litres a day.

The lake levels are low, at 12’1” below FSL and dropping by 2 inches every week.

The City continues to monitor local water consumption and reduces usage by outsourcing water for things like indoor and outdoor ice rinks.

Join us in protecting our city’s water resource by making a few simple changes:

  • Reduce all non-essential water usage.

  • Run the dishwasher only when it's full.

  • Take shorter showers.

  • Don't run water while brushing your teeth.

  • Regularly check faucets for leaks.

  • Consider installing water-efficient showerheads, taps and toilets (Fill our survey here if you haven't: https://conservation.mymorden.ca/bathroom-fixtures-survey )
