New Hub for Conservation Initiatives in Morden

The City of Morden is launching a new webpage with a focus on conservation that will inform, engage, and reward its residents. Water conservation will be the focus of the content as a pressing current issue with low water levels at Lake Minnewasta. The site can be accessed at conservation.mymorden.ca and will be the home of all active conservation projects.

Water is essential to our daily lives. Whenever it is used, there is a potential for water conservation both inside and outside of our homes. The new website will include resources and articles, including 8 Tips for Water-Wise Gardening, 8 Tips for Successful Water Conservation at Home, and What is the city doing to conserve water?

One of the best ways we can learn about water conservation is from our peers, homeowner to homeowner, resident to resident. To facilitate this learning process, the City of Morden is putting on a Water Conservation Challenge with three streams.

  • The Home Conservation Challenge invites residents to submit information on their water conservation efforts in the home including photos or video.

  • The Yard Conservation Challenge invites residents to submit information on what they are doing to conserve water in their yard including photos or video. What are you doing to develop a drought-resistant landscape?

  • The Water Conservation Poster Challenge is for school-aged children and youth, inviting them to share their water conservation ideas in the form of a poster.

Entries will be used to create shareable posts, so we can learn from one another. All entries will be entered into monthly prize draws for a rain barrel, home water conservation kit, or youth water conservation prize.

Prizes are generously sponsored by Prairie Barnwood, MMJS, Gallery Wealth Management, Home Hardware Morden and the City of Morden.

Letโ€™s try to do something to conserve water each day. Every drop counts
