Having access to fast and consistent internet is no longer a luxury; it is an essential part of everything from our work to our schools to keeping connected with friends and loved ones.
We are in the final stages of many months of work from Valley Fiber staff, council and the city to have fast and reliable internet available to every household and business in Morden.
A project like this involves digging and construction, which has prompted many questions by residents on what will be done to restore affected lawns.
Our Action Plan
Landscaping and restoration work, including stump removal areas, utility excavations, and Valley Fiber work sites, will begin in the fall to ensure settling has taken place and the best possibility for successful turf growth.
The work completed will be based on staff availability and the weather and will begin in the first sector that Valley Fiber completed their work and continue in the same sequential order.
Once the job has been completed, it would not include further maintenance such as weeding or watering.
UPDATE (September 27, 2021)
The City of Morden has been receiving several inquiries regarding restoration work on the Valley Fiber line installations.
Here are some answers to the most frequent questions we get:
When are repairs supposed to take place?
The City of Morden will be completing the restoration work starting in the Spring of 2022.
Why is it taking so long?
Two reasons, first, there is still settling in the dig areas, and if we were to start repairs this year, we would be completing the work again next year as the ground is still settling. Secondly, installs are still taking place in different areas of the City and moving equipment and staff into different areas would increase the costs and time taken to complete the restoration rather than completing by zones when the installs are completed.
Will my front yard be restored as it was before?
The City of Morden will only be completing restoration work in the right of ways, being boulevards and vault locations. We will not be completing restoration on private property for connections to your home/business.
